With the change away from the Amazon website as the focus of free book links, many of you may be surprised there are numerous sites out there that offer free Kindle books as well as offering a storefront spotlighting the many – and talented – independent authors. I will be posting about many of these over the coming weeks, and as I do I will give you the site name and a link to the specific blog post so you can read all about them and see if they are for you.


Amazon website – while not technically free, if you click here or type in http://smarturl.it/1cent into your web browser you can see the Kindle books available on Amazon that cost all of a penny each (list changes hourly).


Project Gutenberg website – click here to read the post – this is the first site ever devoted to free eBooks, featuring books in the public domain.


Baen Free Library website – click here to read the post – features free science fiction titles.


Smashwords website – click here to read the post – features books in all categories.


The Internet Sacred Text Archives click here to read the post – they bill themselves as the largest freely available archive of online books about religion, mythology, folklore and the esoteric on the Internet. The site is dedicated to religious tolerance and scholarship, and claims to have the largest readership of any similar site on the web.
