This is going to be a rather quick post, but a former boss of mine told me a long time ago if you are wrong about something, admit it and move on.  At least this is a “good” wrong…


The Poll

Late yesterday afternoon, I asked you to participate in an informal discussion on the blog to answer a short question: do you read one book at a time or are you a multiple reader?  I thought a hundred or so people would respond over the next couple of days.  You can see that post again, or in case you missed it the first time, if you click here or type in into your web browser.

I was clearly wrong…

Over 850 of you have posted your comments, with the prevailing theme being you read one book at a time.  Wow!  Over 40,000 looked at that one page (and the server survived) – a new record!  Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and shared their thoughts!

The Free Blog App

Many of you are reading the blog via the free app that works on your Kindle Fire or any device enabled with the Android operating system such as your smartphone or other tablet computer.  When I initially commissioned this app, I said it was going to be free and my expectations at the time of launch last spring were ambitious – at least I thought they were ambitious – at about 25,000 downloads over the life of the app.

I was even more wrong on this one…

By my best guesstimate, sometime in the next week this app will be downloaded for the 500,000th time.  That wasn’t a typo – nearly half a million instances of the app have been downloaded in less than a year:  That statistic alone blows me away!

While that’s not the number of people who check into the blog each day (people download it and either use it, ignore it, or delete it), I’m about to have some enhancements made to that app – which will continue to be free – that will hopefully be available for you before too much longer.  If you have downloaded and are using it, I hope you are enjoying it, and if you deleted it or haven’t used it in a while I hope you will give it another try.

On the other hand, if you haven’t downloaded it yet to your Kindle Fire or Android-enabled smartphone or tablet, why not give it a shot and maybe you will be that 500,000th downloader?  You can get it for free from either the Amazon App store or the Google Play store.

    My app quit working and says something about a server communication error. Any ideas on how I can get it to work again? I removed it and reloaded it and it still wouldn't work.

    Ah, there it is – it was driving me nuts as I didn't think about the operating system but instead the device: an ice cream sandwich problem. I have requested the developer take a look at this ASAP, so look for an update soon (I wil post about it). Thanks for the specifics!
