It’s time for another rambling blog post – that’s twice this week – where I have no set agenda before I start banging away on the keyboard.  Some of this is answers to questions I have received via email, thoughts I have that I think you need to know about, or just random stuff that may make no sense to you.  If you would like to write to me, my email address is michael at fkbooksandtips dot com (I type it out that way in a small effort to avoid the spammers).

Ordering a Kindle for Christmas?

If you’re like me and have been known to procrastinate a time or two, and you’ve been thinking about ordering a new Kindle for someone for Christmas but you think you’ve missed the shipping window and they won’t arrive in time think again: if you place your order before 4:00 p.m. PST December 21st (tomorrow), Amazon will ship it to you with free two-day shipping which means it will arrive before Christmas.

To take advantage of this offer, and ensure delivery of the Kindle before Christmas, you need to click here or type in http://smarturl.it/umgrcm into your web browser.

Sure, you can always give someone an Amazon gift card (http://smarturl.it/giftcard), but nothing beats a new Kindle in hand…unless you complement the new Kindle with an Amazon gift card for your recipient to load up on content!

Guest Blog Posts

In my last rambling blog post (click here or type in http://smarturl.it/v8aftq into your web browser to see it), I asked you if you liked guest posts by authors and if you thought they should stay or go…I heard from a lot of you, and the consensus was a unanimous 100% positive that they should stay as you liked hearing about the background of the books as well as learning more about the writing process or about the authors.

I’m glad to hear it as I think it is interesting, also, and I have a few more lined up over the next few weeks so stay tuned.  If you would like to see the other guest blog post by independent authors, you can see them again on the blog’s website if you click here or type in http://bit.ly/UAQcb9 into your web browser.  Please note if you click this link you will see just 4 articles on the page, and just snippets of the post.  To see the full post, just click the title of the article and it will open up to the whole post.  If you scroll down to the bottom of this page and click the “Previous” link (located just under and to the left of the last post on the page) you can see the other posts in addition to the last four.

Speaking of guest posts, one of the blog’s top posts for 2012 (in terms of the number of page views) was a guest post by blog reader Delena Bunte, a disabled person who shared some great tips on how she maximizes the use of her Kindle Fire in her everyday life.  In addition to learning a few things, I and many other folks thought it was pretty inspirational.  If you missed it or would like to see it again, you can read that post if you click here or type in http://smarturl.it/e6adee into your web browser.

Oops!

Also in Tuesday’s rambling blog post I mentioned if you stopped by my Kindle Books for a Buck (or less) blog site there might be a big day yesterday for various specials in addition to the 19 romance titles that were just 99 cents each on Tuesday.  For those of you who wrote to me asking where the specials were yesterday, please understand there is a technical term for what happened: I screwed up and got my dates backwards.  The deal is for today and tomorrow.

You can check out the 19 romance titles if you click here or type in http://bit.ly/XGx5gy into your web browser, and you can check out the 54 titles in 16 boxed sets if you click here or type in http://smarturl.it/qkx9ea into your web browser.

Smart URL’s

I addressed this a week or so ago, but many people have asked me about the “smarturl” links I have been using lately, and why I don’t put in links to books and other things for the Amazon UK store.

The short answer is the links to the UK store never went away, and the smarturl links allow me to link to other Amazon sites worldwide.  That way, if you are reading the blog somewhere else besides the USA and want to grab a freebie, the links should (and I stress the should) redirect you to the appropriate store in the USA, UK, Canada, France, Italy, and Germany.  The links can route you to the correct store based upon your internet service provider’s address.

Well, that’s all I had to share with you for tonight.  Don’t procrastinate on ordering your Christmas gifts – click on the link above and order that Kindle, or click here to order something to make sure it will be delivered by Amazon for free by Christmas!
