Okay, let’s start some rumors…

While I was going to update a few links on the blog’s website this afternoon, particularly the links to the various Kindles you can buy, a few things really stuck out and got me thinking:

• The Kindle Touch 3G is listed as “unavailable” on the Amazon website.  You can click here or type in http://amzn.to/kindletouch3g into your web browser to verify.
• The Kindle Touch Wi-FI without special offers is listed as unavailable from Amazon – you can only buy it from third-party vendors.  If you clicked the link for the Kindle Touch 3G above, you can click on the images of the various models of Kindle to verify.
• The Kindle Touch Wi-Fi with Special Offers has a shipping time of 4-7 days.
• Yesterday, Amazon ran a $110 off deal on the Kindle DX in an apparent move to reduce inventory.

What does that lead me to believe?  If past history of the Kindle line is any indication – and with Amazon, it usually is – that makes me think a new version / model of the Kindle Touch is about to be launched.  There has been a lot of speculation in the press and other blogs about the “re-do” of the Kindle Touch, as well as when a new model of the Fire will be released.

When the Kindle 2 and Kindle Keyboard came out, this is exactly what happened with the prior model about a week before the launch.

Does that mean next week there will be an announcement of a new model of the Kindle Touch?  I don’t know….I hope so as, and I won’t go in to the details again, the current version of the Kindle Touch is my least favorite Kindle of all.

If there is an announcement of a new Kindle, I’ll let you know.  I’ll also order one and play around with it and let you know what I think of it.

I also hope it doesn’t mean this is the end of the line for the DX…I love reading on mine!
